black and whites of the summertime: athens community garden

I recently took a trip to the community garden in the closest town to where i am currently living in ohio. I don't know what the flower is at the beginning and end, but i loved how the contrast turned out between the stalk and petals.
below is a view of one of the criss-crossing paths in the community garden, there is often no rhyme or reason to the plots. it seemed like a little food village, with the owners of the plots of some toiling away and others were abandoned. I was astounded by the creativity of some of the owners. Trellis', boxed in bamboo cages to keep the deer out, hand built fences, mounds, large rows and small. TONS and tons of mugwort growing everywhere. I got the okay to harvest.
Comfrey.
