shaman's trinket bag 2
This little bag harbors some of my favorite colors and fabric. I made it with the feeling of holding trinkets and magickal things but it could also hold change like the other shaman's bag. This one though, does not have velcro because of the delicate fabric. The outside is soft cotton, the inside is old linen. The flap is a thicker carpet like material with wool sewn on the inside of the flap.
It's not done, how should i attach the flap to the body of the bag and should it have a little strap or not? I want opt out on the strap and have it be a small little handheld pouch, but i might add a small strap (and to the other shaman's pouch potentially) to make it more versatile.
The ribbon on the top is thrifted from northern Virginia. The flap is vintage, as well as the body. These were fabrics I got in New Hampshire from a great women who designed costumes for modern dance. The scrap of purple silk scarf in the middle of the bag is a piece of an old headscarf i used to love, which i found in Richmond, Va long ago on Cary Street in one of the thrift stores. Now it has a 3rd or 4th life here. I added bright blue beads and bells. The little corn bead was from either an old bag from Thailand or Spain..I'm not so sure anymore. The linen interior came from a thrift store in Newport News, Va, a shirt i used to wear around because it was so soft.
The sewing is a little bit neater than the first shaman's bag because of the shape and lack of velcro. I did a lot of sewing without the machine on these two bags.
i remember using those bells when we used to make hemp bracelets
